As optimistic as it may appear at first sight, a perpetual Sunday feeling could be nothing but depressing. Between the inevitability of beginning the week again and the gray boredom-anxiety of empty weekends, Morrisey’s song title, which we openly borrow for this group show, clearly expresses a vivid feeling we’re too often overcome with.
The song, in its turn, references a SF book in which a group of people is waiting for nuclear devastation in the banality and eeriness of an out-of-season beach town. The parallel to the recent reality close to us is distressing, no doubt. Our need to clearly and poignantly choose to continue non-essential pursues, in this context, is a statement for lucid and involved freedom.
Five artists are showing works on paper from the last 2 years, in which humans walk, sleep, work, are lost, or are idle. Most of them are alone, quiet, and peaceful.
